The Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, ushers in a new chapter as Professor Festus Ukwueze formally passes the baton of leadership to Professor Obiajulu Nnamuchi, following a distinguished tenure defined by visionary leadership, academic excellence, dedicated service, and an unwavering commitment to institutional growth.

As Primus Inter Paresthe first among equals—the Dean occupies a unique position of leadership and service, providing academic and administrative direction while fostering collegiality, excellence, and shared governance within the Faculty. Throughout his tenure, Professor Ukwueze has played a pivotal role in advancing the Faculty's reputation as a leading centre of legal education, strengthening its culture of scholarship, research, professional development, and community engagement.

His leadership is reflected, among other achievements, in the Faculty's exceptional performance at the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 Nigerian Law School Bar Final Examinations, where its graduates recorded remarkable success, producing over forty and fifteen First Class graduates, respectively. The mantle of leadership now passes to Professor Obiajulu Nnamuchi  S.J.D. (Loyola University Chicago))—an internationally acclaimed legal scholar whose research lies at the intersection of medicine and law, human rights, global health, bioethics, and health governance and financing.

As Professor Nnamuchi assumes office, the Faculty looks forward with great optimism to a new era of innovation, collaboration, academic distinction, and institutional advancement.
